Snowshoeing in Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche
Spectacular panoramas at the foot of the Matterhorn
Snowshoeing represents one of the most authentic and fascinating ways to experience the mountains in winter. Between Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche, enthusiasts can choose panoramic, safe, and well-marked routes, immersed in a unique natural environment dominated by the majestic presence of the Matterhorn.
In the Plan Maison area, easily reachable from the village by cable car and/or gondola lift, two carefully marked, groomed, and secured snowshoe routes are available. These itineraries are ideal for those who wish to move calmly on the snow while enjoying wide, spectacular panoramas, with a constant and privileged view of the Matterhorn.
In case of emergency, call 112.
Pay close attention to the closing times of the cable car/gondola lift.
Teodulo Refuge
This itinerary, approximately 4.5 km long, runs along the left side of the Plan Maison chairlift at an altitude of 2,500 meters and leads to the charming Teodulo Refuge, located at 3,200 meters above sea level.
A highly rewarding snowshoe hike, perfect for those seeking a more immersive and panoramic experience, crossing high-altitude environments where silence and winter light make the journey even more exciting.
The route includes several crossings of the ski slope. Pay close attention to skiers coming down from the mountain. Please remember that skiers have right of way on the ski slopes.
The track is open daily. Please check its opening hours on the website www.cervinia.it or through the Cervino S.p.A. information office.
Plan Maison – Fornet – Cime Bianche Laghi
Longer and equally scenic is the 6 km route that, starting again from Plan Maison, reaches the Cime Bianche Laghi station at 2,812 meters, the access point to the cable car heading to Plateau Rosà.
An ideal itinerary for those looking for a complete excursion, combining physical activity, high-altitude panoramas, and the thrill of walking in one of the most iconic alpine settings in the Alps.

Lago di Loz Loop
Among the most recent proposals stands out the new loop itinerary around Lago di Loz, a 3.7 km snowshoe route with 227 meters of positive elevation gain, created by the Municipality of Valtournenche.
The trail winds through a charming natural environment of snow-covered forests and clearings and is accessible both from the hamlet of Losanche and from the gondola parking area. The latter is recommended for those who wish to tackle a steeper and more dynamic initial section. A perfect snowshoe hike also for those seeking a quieter experience, yet rich in charm.
Important safety information
Please note: the concessionaire and the lift operators are not responsible for any accidents that may occur on off-piste routes served by the lift systems.
Those practicing ski mountaineering or excursions in ungroomed terrain must, in the presence of avalanche risk, be equipped with appropriate electronic self-rescue devices (avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe), which are essential to ensure rapid and effective intervention.
A tip for enjoying the mountains with peace of mind
For ski mountaineering trips off-piste or along unmarked routes, it is strongly recommended to rely on the Cervino Alpine Guides—experienced professionals with deep knowledge of the area—who can guarantee safety, environmental awareness, and an authentic, unforgettable experience.
