Ascent to Breithorn
The ascent of Breithorn (4,165 m / 13,665 ft) is one of the most rewarding experiences for those wishing to discover mountaineering and conquer their first 4,000-meter peak. Thanks to the lift system reaching Plateau Rosà and the Klein Matterhorn (Matterhorn Glacier Paradise), this climb is considered one of the most accessible four-thousanders in the Alps, while still taking place in a genuine high-mountain environment and requiring good physical fitness and the accompaniment of a qualified mountain guide.
The route crosses the vast Plateau Rosà Glacier, surrounded by spectacular scenery of permanent snow, ice and towering peaks rising above 4,000 meters. Equipped with crampons and mountaineering gear, climbers gradually ascend moderate glacier slopes to reach the summit of West Breithorn, one of the most panoramic peaks in the Alps.
Thanks to the international Matterhorn Alpine Crossing connection, it is also possible to reach the Klein Matterhorn by cable car at an altitude of 3,883 meters. Starting from here, the elevation gain is reduced to approximately 300 meters, making the ascent even more accessible and allowing climbers to reach the summit in a shorter time. This option also offers the unique opportunity to stand at the highest point in Europe accessible by cable car, surrounded by an extraordinary glacial landscape in the heart of the Pennine Alps.
From the summit, breathtaking views extend across the Matterhorn, the Monte Rosa massif, Castor, Pollux and many other peaks above 4,000 meters. An unforgettable panorama that rewards every effort and provides a truly unique alpine experience.
Accompanied by the Cervino Mountain Guides, this ascent is the perfect way to experience high altitude, take your first steps into mountaineering and reach one of the most iconic summits in the Alps.
